Study Abroad
For the last three years I have served as a co-leader for the SIU Study Abroad England History trip. Serving on the Study Abroad trips has been one of the most enriching and rewarding opportunities I have had as an educator. The trips have lasted from two to three weeks, using train travel as the primary transportation around England. Cities visited include: London, Chester, Brighton, Oxford, Birmingham, Fishbourne, Bath, St. Albans, Thirsk, Newcastle, Liverpool, Durham, York, Scarborough, and Chester. The July 2025 trip is currently enrolling students.

Photo Information
The top photo is of the Royal Crescent in Bath in 2022. It was taken while sitting with students enjoying an impromptu cheese and cracker snack break, washed down with lemonade purchased from an entrepreneurial girl who was weaving among the crowd of people sitting on the green. The photo of the post box topper was taken in Windsor during the 2023 trip. I had just stood over two hours in a queue waiting to walk by the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II. The carousel horse is located at Brighton Pier. I simply could not go to Brighton Pier and not ride on one amusement ride, so I chose the carousel. The post box photo was taken at one of my favorite museums, the Postal Museum in London. The photo shows a rare Edward VIII post box. Edward was the king who abdicated. The final photo was taken outside York Minster while enjoying lunch with students at an outdoor restaurant in 2024.
